The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce and the Atmore Public Library sponsored a Williams Station Day creative writing contest for fourth-graders. The winners were to read their work at the event, but WSD was cancelled due to the weather. Entries were judged at the library, and the winners are shown here.

The Atmore Community Hospital Therapy Services held a Halloween event designed for children with special needs and their families Monday, October 28. Sometimes children with special needs are unable to participate in the traditional trick-or-treat experience due to the sights, sounds, and smells that accompany Halloween. Gulf Coast Resource Conservation & Development Council awarded a $15,000 grant to Pride of Atmore to pay for having blueprints drawn up that will assist in the restoration of the historic Strand Theater.
