Escambia Academy hosted the New Year Classic Basketball Tournament December 29 and 30. EA won over Walton High School (Florida) 80-79 when EA’s Fred Flavors made a buzzer-beater 3-point basket. Man tries to run down officers
An Atmore man, initially suspected of stealing several items from a local business, remained in the Escambia County Detention Center this week, charged with attempting to run down two Atmore police officers who were trying to arrest him on the theft charge. ABC store robbed
Atmore police continued this week their search for two masked bandits who held up the ABC store on North Main Street at gunpoint last week. The heist took place Tuesday, December 12, and Atmore police patrol officers and investigators were notified around 5:49 p.m. that the state owned and operated liquor store had been robbed.
