Clarification

In last week’s edition of Atmore News (June 7, 2017), one of the names on the Circuit Court Docket was listed as Matthew McGhee, no middle name or middle initial. Following a phone call from the family of Matthew John McGhee, we checked with the court clerk’s office and verified that the accused is Matthew Lance McGhee.

Jailed for embezzlement – Atmore woman charged with stealing thousands

An Atmore woman who had worked for and with a local realtor for several years was arrested last week and charged with embezzling a “significant amount” of money from the realtor’s business. Poarch man torches own home

A Jack Springs Road resident was arrested May 30 on arson and domestic violence charges after he allegedly used a husband-wife dispute as the catalyst for setting a fire that consumed the mobile home in which the couple lived. Incumbents win PCI election

Three incumbents were successful in their bid for re-election on the Poarch Creek Tribal Council. Tribal Chairman Stephanie Bryan and At Large members Arthur Mothershed and Garvis Sells won handily without run-offs in the election held Saturday, June 3.
