Honoring Vietnam veterans
Atmore VFW Auxiliary #7016 is hosting the Fifth Annual Vietnam Veterans Day Saturday, March 31, 4 p.m., in the Atmore YMCA. Scheduled guest speakers include U.S. Congressman Bradley Byrne, VFW State Commander Dennis Doherty, and VFW Auxiliary State President Donna Howell. All Vietnam veterans and their families are invited. The event is open to the public.
Free cancer screenings offered – Oral, head and neck cancer
Gulf Coast Cancer Centers and Eastern Shore Ear Nose and Throat will offer free screenings for oral, head and neck cancer on Wednesday, March 7. Board certified otolaryngologists and oncologists will screen adults from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Eastern Shore Ear Nose and Throat office located at 27961 Hwy. 98, Suite 11 in Daphne. ‘Tom Sawyer’ opens this week
The curtain opens on Tom Sawyer this week as the Greater Escambia Council for the Arts presents the popular production. Columbus ships Pinta and Nina to land in Orange Beach
On Friday, March 2, the Pinta and the Nina, replicas of Columbus’ ships, will open in Orange Beach. The ships will be docked at The Wharf, 23101 Canal Road until their departure early Tuesday morning March 6. The Nina was built completely by hand and without the use of power tools.
