The Greater Escambia Council for the Arts’ next production is “The Enchanted Bookshop.” Auditions are Saturday, January 14, 2 p.m., at the theater, corner of Trammell and Nashville (Hwy. 31).The play has 23 roles. Auditions are for ages 8 to 18. Each person auditioning will be asked to read a passage. Show dates are March 2-5. Sharon Poulsen is directing.

The Chamber Foundation recently donated $500 to the Escambia Academy basketball team and $500 to the EA fishing team. The first baby born in Escambia County in 2023 is Brynnleigh Rose Capers, born Jan. 1, at 10:35 a.m., at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital in Brewton. She weighed 7 lbs., 1 oz., and was 19 inches long. She is the daughter of Kyrstin Hammac and Billy Capers, both of Flomaton. Maternal grandparent is Lindsey Shults, Brewton, and paternal grandparents are Billy and Angela Capers, Flomaton.
