The first baby born in Escambia County in 2023 is Brynnleigh Rose Capers, born Jan. 1, at 10:35 a.m., at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital in Brewton. She weighed 7 lbs., 1 oz., and was 19 inches long. She is the daughter of Kyrstin Hammac and Billy Capers, both of Flomaton. Maternal grandparent is Lindsey Shults, Brewton, and paternal grandparents are Billy and Angela Capers, Flomaton.
Firefighters battle warehouse blaze at Tiger-Sul
Westbound traffic on U.S. 31 was at 10:15 a.m. today (Friday, Jan. 6) still being diverted onto Industrial Drive as a fire continued to ravage a Tiger-Sul warehouse facility and threaten several sulfur-laden rail cars. A thick, black, sulfur-laced cloud hovered over the fertilizer production facility, just off U.S. 31 and across from Atmore Country Club, as Atmore Fire Chief Ron Peebles and emergency personnel hurried to employ fire hydrants.…
