The Alabama Sports Writers Association has released its first poll of the 2020 football season.
The ASWA’s preseason rankings have Escambia Academy as the AISA’s (Alabama Independent School Association) No. 6 team, with Monroe Academy at No. 8. Autauga Academy is ranked at the top of the poll.
In AHSAA (Alabama High School Athletic Association) rankings, both T.R. Miller and Flomaton High earned Top 10 status among Class 3A teams. The Miller Tigers were listed at No. 5; the Flomaton Hurricanes were voted 10th. Nearby Hillcrest-Evergreen is ranked third.
Another area team, J.U. Blacksher, did not crack the Class 2A Top 10, but did receive votes from sportswriters.

Class 6A: Oxford
Class 5A: Central-Clay Co.
Class 4A: American Christian
Class 3A: Piedmont
Class 2A: Leroy
