Getting to know the pastor’s wife

FBC ladies enjoy lunch

Special to Atmore News

It was a sunny Saturday morning, August 3, spent with beautiful sisters in Christ at a luncheon hosted by Tina Garrett, wife of Pastor Kevin Garrett, at their home in Robinsonville. Kevin Garrett is the Sr. Pastor at First Baptist Church in Atmore.
The event themed, “Meet the Pastor’s Wife” and “Lunch with Tina” was held outside on the covered patio, and Gather catered the event for approximately 50 ladies from First Baptist and other invited guests.
Susan Sanders, Fine Arts Director at Cottage Hill Christian Academy, provided an inspirational time of testimony and a mini concert of hymns from the past as the guests were invited to sing along.
One of the guests was quoted, “We laughed, we cried, we held hands, we sang, we prayed, we worshiped, we ate and we enjoyed being in a group of Christian ladies.”
The highlight of the day, and in keeping with the theme of “Meet the Pastor’s Wife,” each guest was given a humorous, multiple choice questionnaire about Tina. A special prize was given for the most correct answers. There were surprises and a lot of laughter as Tina shared her personal life and testimony.
As one of the guests commented, “A good time was had by all, and we love our Tina.”
The First Baptist Church ladies decided that this was such a success that they have challenged the First Baptist men to sponsor an event for Pastor Kevin.
Pastor Kevin and Tina joined First Baptist Atmore in November 2018, and their passion is loving people and sharing the gospel. Tina has taught Special Education for nearly 20 years and currently teaches for Escambia County, Alabama.
In the past, Pastor Kevin has served in music, students, recreation, associate pastor, pastor and led mission trips both domestic and abroad. Both Tina and Kevin are coffee lovers, and they roast and grind their own coffee. At one time, they formed a coffee company called Sowing Seeds to financially help children and their families for mission trips. Their logo says it all, “Helping Children Change Their World.”
