James Edward Mosley

Mr. James Edward Mosley, age 84, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday July 29, 2019 at his residence. He worked for Container Corporation, owned and operated Mosley’s Fairview Texaco gas station and was a farmer. He was born in Lottie, Ala. to the late Thomas Calvin “Arant” and Janie King Mosley. He was a member of the Lottie United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, J.T. Mosley. Mr. Mosley is survived by his wife, Shirley Dunn Mosley; a son, James Byron (Danielle) Mosley, all of Lottie; a brother, Billy Ray Mosley of Bay Minette, Ala., grandchildren, Jennifer Cian (Cody) Mosley Smith and Jacob (Day) Harrison; two great-grandchildren, Jay Harrison and Coraline Harrison.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Lottie United Methodist
Church with Bro. Henry Wilson, Bro. Brent Chancery and Bro. Gerald Coggin officiating. Interment will follow in Lottie Methodist Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Randy Weaver, Brandon Kelly, Jamie Ramer, Norman Myer, Matt Burns and Paul Benton.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home and again Thursday, August 1, 2019 one hour prior to service time at Lottie Methodist Church.

Rondal Macks 

Mr. Rondal Macks, age 75, of Century, Fla., passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 in Montgomery, Ala. He retired from Container Corp. with over twenty years of service and was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rachel Macks.

Mr. Macks is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Juanita Macks of Pace, Fla.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Barbara and Carl White of Montgomery and Bonnie M. Johnson of Pensacola and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Rickey Tedder officiating. Burial will follow at the Ramer Baptist Cemetery, Lenox, Ala.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 1 until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Leonard Macks, Joe E. Macks, Bubba Hammac, Terry Bryan, Danny Macks and Heath Bryan.

Aubrey Glenn “Tobe” Sellers 

Mr. Aubrey Glenn “Tobe” Sellers, age 94, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019 in Pensacola, Fla. He was a native and life-long resident of Atmore, Ala. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving in the U.S. Air Force with twenty years of service. He was a member of the VFW, Carney Masonic Lodge #549, Scottish Rite and Brooks Memorial Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Arthur M. and Carrie B. Sellers; wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” Minor Sellers; two sisters, Pearl Boatwright and Ralphine Morrow and two brothers, Arthur M. Sellers, Jr. and Joe Frank “Sam” Sellers.

Mr. Sellers is survived by his sons, Gary Michael (Myra) Sellers of Prattville, Ala., Steve Alan (Kim) Royal of Clearwater, Fla. and Kent W. (Kathi) Royal of Brandon, Fla.; three grandsons;  two granddaughters; one great-grandson; four great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews, especially Tommy (Vickey) Sellers of Gulf Shores, Ala.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 1 until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Roy L.  Steadham  

Mr. Roy L.  Steadham, age 72, passed away Monday, July 29, 2019 at his home in Century, Fla. He was a native of Century, former resident of Ottawa, Kans. for twenty-two years and had resided in Century for the past seven years. He was a graduate of Century High School, a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving with the U.S. Navy and attended the Sardis Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Ella Louise Steadham; two sisters, Al Godwin and Arlene Howell and one brother, Eugene Howell.

Mr. Steadham is survived by his mother, Dorothy Steadham of McDavid, Fla.; one son, James D. (Melanie) Steadham of Atmore, Ala.; one daughter, Lesley Steadham of Jay, Fla.; two brothers, Dalton Steadham of McDavid and Nathan Hardy of Atmore; two sisters, Sandra (Mac, Jr.) Morris of McDavid and Mary (Ray) Cranford of Savanna, Ga.; five grandchildren, Paige Steadham, Savannah Steadham, Reygan Steadham, Cody Kent and Michael Haskew; one great- grandchild, Carson Bell and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 2, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Weekly officiating. Burial will follow at Rigby Cemetery.

Gracie Mae Gunn

Mrs. Gracie Mae Gunn, age 89, of Bratt, Fla., passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019. She was a retired seamstress at Vanity Fair.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Chester Gunn; her parents, ET and Lillie Mae Williamson; three sisters, Mary Denton, Louise Brantley and Ida Bell and one brother, Pete Williamson.

Mrs. Gunn is survived by Debbie (Jeff) Jackson of Brewton, Ala. and Sandra (Willie) Hughes of Memphis, Tenn.; three sons, Michael (Joyce) Gunn and Wayne (Donna) Gunn, all of Bratt and Steve (Linda) Gunn of Byrneville, Fla.; one brother, George Williamson of Pace, Fla.; twelve grandchildren, Jason (Erica) Jackson, Randy (Allison) Jackson and Rodney (Holly) Jackson, all of Brewton, Ala., Lynn Gunn and Gary Gunn, both of Byrneville, Shonna (Eric) Gilmore of Bratt, Lynae (Nick) Clarke of Tallahassee, Fla., Joy (Ryan) Malone of Atmore, Ala., Brian Conway of Flomaton, Ala., Tracey (Troy) Strength of Navarre, Fla., Haley Gunn and Kaitlyn (Austin) Strehlm all of Bratt and loved by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 4, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Peebles officiating. Interment will follow at the Godwin Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Trace Kenneth Goodwin

Private First-Class Trace Kenneth Goodwin, age 19, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019 in Tustin, Calif. due to an accident after being struck by a vehicle. He was born in Pensacola, Fla. and lived between Pensacola, Fla. and Atmore, Ala. He was a 2018 graduate of Pine Forest High School. His dream to join the military began when he was four years old and never deviated from this lifelong goal. He became a Marine and received his Eagle Globe and Anchor pin after completing his crucible March 23, 2019. He graduated from Parris Island, S. C. on April 5, 2019.  He loved spending time with his family and hanging with his friends. His favorite team was the New Orleans Saints.  His passion was watching the games with his Dad.  He was even a bigger Alabama fan “Roll Tide.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Preston J Savol and paternal grandfathers, Buck Goodwin and Don Lincoln.

Pvt. First-Class Goodwin is survived by his mother, Wendy Marie Marotz; his father, Michael Wayne Goodwin; maternal grandmother, Betty Salzer and paternal grandmother, Madeline Lincoln; siblings, Shawna Michelle Goodwin, Anthony Scot Marotz, and Meghan Helena Thomason; nieces and nephews, Amare Reese Peck, Braxton Fisher Pomeroy, Adelynn Andrews, Bentley Scot Marotz, Braelyn Andrews, Emma Kay Andrews, Casyn Knox Meadors, Pete Ryan Andrews; uncles, aunts and many cousins.

Pallbearers were his brothers in arms of the United States Marine Corp.

Honorary pallbearers were Phillip “Phil” Schneider, Mikey “Mike” Schneider, Jack Jaye, Joshua “Lil Bouncer” Johnson, Darren “Boo Dro” Stacey and Serena Jaye.

The family received friends Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Faith Chapel South and his life was celebrated Monday, July 29, 2019 at 12 p.m.  Burial followed at Pensacola Memorial Gardens in the Veteran Gardens.

Mary Avanelle Jordan Stark

Mrs. Mary Avanelle Jordan Stark, age 90, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday July 25, 2019 at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Little Rock, Ark. to the late George Dewey and Erma Lee Kelly Jordan. She was a 1947 graduate of Little Rock Central High School. She was employed by South Central Bell Telephone for many years and retired from Touch-1 Long Distance Service in 1994. She was an active member of New Home United Pentecostal Church where she and her husband had pastored for twenty-five years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two+ years, Rev. Joseph F. Stark; son, Daniel Glenn Stark; two sisters, Virginia Fields of Little Rock and Marjorie Harrell of Ozark, Ark.; brother, Herbert Edward Jordan of Denver, Colo.
Mrs. Stark is survived by two sons, Joseph Frederick Stark Jr, (Roman) of Palm Springs, Calif. and Robert Neil Stark (Jo) of Gretna, La.: three grandchildren, Natalie Stark Oser (Gene) of Marrero, La., Robert Neil Stark, Jr. M.D. (Kim) of Rockwall, Texas and Jeffrey Paul Stark, P.E. (Wendy) of New Orleans, La.; five great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Stark, Ethan Stark and Aidan Stark of Rockwell and Justin and Brandon Oser of Marrero, La.

Steve Nelson Rutherford 

Mr. Steve Nelson Rutherford, age 73, passed away Friday, August 2, 2019 in Biloxi, Miss.  He was a native of Jay, Fla. and had resided in Atmore, Ala. most of his life. He was an avid outdoorsman and a truck driver. He was a wounded veteran of the Viet Nam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Evelyn Rutherford and brother, Glenn Rutherford.

Mr. Rutherford is survived by his two sons, Ricky (Linda) Rutherford of Perdido, Ala. and Rocky Rutherford of Monroeville, Ala.; one daughter, Kristi Rutherford Taylor of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Pearl Sells and Mavis McGhee, both of Bay Minette, Ala.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 5, 2019 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Lighthouse Temple Church of God, Bay Minette, Ala.

Charlie Mae “Tina” Johnson

Ms. Charlie Mae “Tina” Johnson of Moss Point, Miss. formerly of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, July 29, 2019 at a local hospital. She was a 1967 graduate of Escambia County Training School. After graduation she relocated to Detroit, Mich. Where she studied nursing and worked. Later she came back south to Moss Point.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Willie Mae Johnson.

Ms. Johnson is survived by her daughters, Rachel Johnson of Detroit and Yolanda Flint of Moss Point and one granddaughter, Tabitha Diane Johnson of Moss Point.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 5425 Grierson St., Moss Point, MS 39563. Interment will be in Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula, Miss.

Mildred T. Bowman

Mrs. Mildred T. Bowman, age 90, of Lottie, Ala., passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019 in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Barnett’s Crossroads, Ala. to the late Robert “Rob” and Henrietta “Carlie” Taylor Tyree. She was a retired seamstress from Vanity Fair and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marshall Bowman; two brothers, Willard Tyree and Vernie Lee “Snooks” Tyree.

Mrs. Bowman is survived by her children, Mark Bowman and Matthew “Matt” (Cathy) Bowman, all of Lottie; Margaret Ann (James) Odom of Cantonment, Fla.; Sherry (Shannon Hurd) Milstid of Pensacola and Cindy (Bo) Weaver of Gulf Shores, Ala.; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 9, 2019 at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in Lottie New Home Cemetery.
