Roberta Scott Johnson

Mrs. Roberta Scott Johnson, age 75, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at her home in Atmore, Ala. She was a native of Goodway, Ala. and had resided in Atmore for most of her life. She was an avid flower gardener and loved to cook for family gatherings. She retired from Vanity Fair with fifteen years of service and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Johnson; parents, Millard and Lillie Mae Scott and one brother and one sister.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by one son, Darin (Kathy) Johnson of McCalla, Ala.; three daughters, Sandy Johnson of Huxford, Ala., Vickie Bowen of Atmore and Robin (Jeff) Fernandez of Defuniak Springs, Fla.; two brothers, Billy (Connie) Scott of Little River, Ala. and Wilmer (Jean) Scott of Bay Minette, Ala.; one sister, Ruth Johnson of Atmore; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at noon at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Burial followed at McCullough Cemetery.

The family received friends Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 11 a.m. until service time at noon at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Tyler Fernandez, Tanner Gideons, Evan Johnson, Nathen Hendrickson, Colton Parsons and Colton Bowen.

Honorary pallbearer was Greg Norris.

Clovers Ray Bell

Mr. Clovers Ray Bell, age 76, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in Pensacola, Fla. He was born in Mobile, Ala. to the late Ely D. and Annie Oakley Uptagrafft Bell. He was a member and deacon at the First Baptist Church of Atmore. He operated Bell’s Auto Supply in Atmore and retired after fifty-one years in business.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Annie Amos Bell of Atmore; son, James Alan (Susan) Bell of Troy, Ala. and daughter Wendy (Jon) Jury of Atmore; brother-in-law, Arnold Amos of Atmore; three grandchildren, Megan (Zack) Stewart, Mallory (Keegan) Lambeth and Morgan Jury; four great-grandchildren, Camden Stewart, Macie Stewart, Collin Stewart and Lawson Lambeth.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Atmore with Rev. Arnold Hendrix and Rev. Kevin Garrett officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Arnold Amos, David Amos, Kelby Amos, Zack Stewart, Keegan Lambeth and Billy Wayne Branum.

The family received friends Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. from the First Baptist Church of Atmore.

Roger Glenn Dockens

Mr. Roger Glenn Dockens, age 19, passed away Friday, May 3, 2019 in Bratt, Fla. He was a native of Pensacola, Fla. and had resided in Bratt for most of his life. He was a member of the Bratt First Baptist Church and former student at Northview High School.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Amanda Sue Dockens.

 

Mr. Dockens is survived by his father, Rodney G. Dockens of Bratt; maternal grandparents, Joe (Soksu) Snyder of Martin, Ky.; paternal grandparents, Roger Glenn Dockens, Sr. of Bratt and Ethel Jannice Dockens of Milton, Fla.; two brothers, Joseph Cabrera of Martin and Colton Tyler Dockens of Bratt.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 10, 2019 at 10 p.m. at Bratt First Baptist Church. Burial followed at Godwin Cemetery.

The family received friends Friday, May 10, 2019 from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. at Bratt First Baptist Church.

Pallbearers were Jim Lawson, Dewayne Conner, Chris Edwards, Ryan Godwin, Max Odom and Josh Long.

Pearline Daughtry McGhee

Mrs. Pearline Daughtry McGhee, age 83, of Poarch, Ala., passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in Atmore, Ala. She was born in Poarch to the late Homer Jack and Nora McGhee Daughtry. She was a retired Department Director at the Department of Defense Army Depot, Corpus Christi, Texas. She was a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and formally served on the Tribal Council. She was a lifelong member of the Friendly Holiness Church and was a daughter-in-law to the late Chief Calvin McGhee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtis Edward McGhee; Brother, W.C. Daughtry; sister, Earline D. Coleman; grandchild, Amber Holland and great-grandchild, Alayna Blaire Knowles.

Mrs. McGhee is survived by one son, Rickey McGhee of Canoe, Ala.; three daughters, Rose McGhee Coon, Carrie (Randy) Martin and Charlene McGhee, all of and one sister, Betty (Leonard) Garlitz of Birmingham, Mich..; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 13, 2019 at 2 p.m. from McCullough Christian Center with Bro. Ralph Coleman and Bro. Ray Ward officiating. Interment followed in New Home Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Sammy Bostic, Dylan McGhee, Curtis Hayes, Kaweta Coon, Cedo Coon, and Noah Coon.

Honorary pallbearers were Homer Coleman, Kenny Coleman, Doyle Coleman, Stevie Carpenter, Robbie McGhee, Calvin McGhee, Tyler McGhee, and Daniel McGhee.

Douglas Bernard Vickery, Sr.

Mr. Douglas Bernard Vickery, Sr., age 75, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019 in Brewton, Ala. He was a native and life-long resident of Atmore, Ala. He owned and operated several stores in the area, was devoted to his grandkids and family, never missed games and practice. He was a member of Bethel Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Myrtle Vickery and one brother, Lawrence Vickery.
Mr. Vickery is survived by one son, Coach V (Leah) of Flomaton, AL; one brother, Weldon (Kay) Vickrey of Mineola, Ala.; three sisters, Nell Owens, Shirley (Curtis) Fayard and Ann (Larry) Davis, all of Atmore; four grandchildren, Tripp, Cade, Avery and Zeb.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Kay Vickrey officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Shirley Jean Turner

Mrs. Shirley Jean Turner, age 60, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019 at her home in Atmore, Ala. She was a native and life-long resident of Atmore. She was an avid shopper who also enjoyed tubing and being at the creek with her family and friends. She was a great friend and was always helping others.

She was preceded in death by her father, Milford J. Jordan; mother, Barbara Ann Jordan; brother, Melvin Jenks Jordan; grandfather, Jenkins Montgomery Jordan; grandmother, Onzy Burkett Jordan and half-sister, Diane Chapman.
Mrs. Turner is survived by her husband of thirty-one years, Avery Turner of Atmore; one son, Anthony (Corrie) Jordan of Atmore; one step-son, Phillip Turner of Bratt, Fla. Colton; seven grandchildren, Brianna, Tyler, Tyler, Nathan, Lauren, Anthony Jr. and Zack and one great grandchild, Kaegan.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Breceda and Rev. Ray Ward officiating. Burial will follow at New Home Cemetery.
