Escambia Academy’s Caleb Davis pitched a solid game against Atmore Christian School on March 16, leading the Cougars to an 11-1 win during the Escambia Academy Baseball Tournament, played at EA.
“Davis pitched a great game for us,” head coach J.P. Sawyer said. “As a team, we started slow at the plate but managed to put things together and score runs.”
Despite being able to put up a win against their hometown opponent, the Cougars fell short to their rival, Jay High School, by a 7-1 margin in EA’s second matchup of the afternoon.
Right-hander J-Bo Davis started out strong on the mound for the Cougars. Despite fighting through shoulder pain early in the game, he executed well.
“Davis was great for us on the mound and did an outstanding job,” Sawyer said. “We made contact with the ball really well but made too many mistakes on defense.”
Individual hitting and pitching stats were not made available by the EA coach, whose team will next face Monroe Academy, on the road, at 4 p.m. on March 26.
