Garcia lands lead in Macbeth

Monica Garcia, a senior at the University of West Georgia, was selected for the leading role as Macbeth in the stage play Macbeth by William Shakespeare.
She is the daughter of Robert and Vanessa Coker Garcia of Dacula, Georgia. She is the granddaughter of Patricia Knott Coker Kidd of Atmore and the late George N. Coker Sr. of Burnt Corn, Alabama. She is also the granddaughter of Sandra Garcia of Lutz, Florida, and the late Gerard Garcia of Tampa, Florida.
Garcia is a Theatre Major from Dacula, Georgia, and has appeared in numerous productions. In addition, she wrote a script that she produced and then performed. Garcia also received two Kennedy Center American College Theatre nominations in 2018 for her performances.
She is also a marketing assistant and creates podcasts, conducts interviews and writes articles and press releases for the theatre department.
Garcia is an honor student and President of the Alpha Psi Omega National Theatre Honor Society. She was also nominated for membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars which recognizes students with high academic achievement.
After graduation, Garcia plans to pursue an apprenticeship within the Theatre Arts industry.
