Donald Elliott Strickland     

    

Mr. Donald Elliott Strickland, age 87, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away Friday, February 1, 2019 in Pensacola, Fla. He was born in Bratt, Fla. to the late Walker E. and Gladys Wiggins Strickland. He was a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Willie Marie Amos Strickland; a son, George E. Strickland and a sister Mary Lou Strickland Wiggins.

Mr. Strickland is survived by a son, Bill (Sandy) Strickland of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two daughters, Donna (Jon) Dees of Cantonment, Fla. and Becky (Paul) Madeira of Miami, Fla.; three sisters, Louise (Charles) Bryan of Mobile, Ala., Marilyn Ward and Sharee (Edward) Godwin, all of Walnut Hill; four grandsons, Kory (Kelly) Dees, Joshua Dees, Blake Dees and Bradyn Strickland; a granddaughter, Sarah Strickland and a great-granddaughter, Kyler Dees.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 4, 2019 at 2 p.m. from Walnut Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Bridges and Rev. Joshua Long officiating. Interment will follow in the Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.

Active pallbearers will be Kory Dees, Joshua Dees, Blake Dees, Bradyn Strickland, Brett Ward and Horace Ward.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Poulsen and Wayne Long.

The family received friends Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 3 until 5 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Jonathan Darryl Morgan

Mr. Jonathan Darryl Morgan, age 56, passed away Friday, February 1, 2019 in Mobile, Ala. He was a native and life-long resident of Flomaton, Ala. He was an avid Auburn fan, musician, pianist and singer. He attended the Promise Land Outreach Ministries Church of Atmore.

He was preceded in death by his father, Winfred Morgan; brother, Vince Morgan and nephew, Jason Douglass.

Mr. Morgan is survived by his mother, Dorothy Morgan of Flomaton; wife of thirty years, Helen L. Morgan of Flomaton; one daughter, Savannah Lawren Morgan of Flomaton; one sister, Deborah Morgan Fountain of Atmore, Ala. and special aunt, Shirley Beasley Diamond of Jay, Fla.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Apostle Wayne Marshall and Pastor Connie Marshall officiating. Burial followed at Little Escambia Cemetery.

The family receive friends Monday, February 4, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Nick Morgan, Aaron Fountain, Kody Mefford, Nikki Odom, Tyler Newton, Jaden Newton, Alex Glidewell and Theron Inman.

Honorary pallbearer were Bryson Glidewell.

Christina Shevon Phillips 

   

Ms. Christina Shevon Phillips, age 19, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle, Ga. after an extended illness of cancer. She was born to Christopher Phillips and Sheree Brewster in Orlando, Fla. She was a 2017 graduate of Escambia County High School. She was a member of Bethany SDA Church in Atmore and was a member of Hands for Praise. She joined the United States Air Force and was honorable discharged in 2018.

Ms. Phillips is survived by her parents; great-grandmothers, Rosetta Sims and Bessie Dees; grandparents, Brenda Brewster, Larry Finley, Mary Graham and Charles Miller; brothers, Demetree (My’kala) Marion, Christopher (Scoop) Phillips, Kimani Phillips; sisters, Patricia Phillips and Daijia Phillips; uncles, Shunathan Brewster, Alonnzie Phillips, Travis Phillips; aunts, Shameca Braewster, Jocelyn Brewster, Rosemita Pierre and a host of cousins and friends.

Celebration of Life services were held Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Bethany Seventh Day Adventist Church with Dr. DeJuan Knight, Pastor officiating. There was no burial service.

Pallbearers were Demetree Marion, Keshawn Johnson, Travis Phillips and Christopher Anderson.

Flower bearers were her female cousins.

Jesse Lett

Mr. Jesse Lett, age 62, of Evergreen, Ala., passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019.
