Boosie needs a home

News Staff Report

Rachel Patterson Elementary School was awarded a grant and recognized as an Alabama Bicentennial School. In an effort to help bring awareness to the dogs and cats in the care of the Atmore/PCI Animal Shelter, the RPES Bicentennial Committee and students are hosting various fundraising events and donation drives throughout the school year.
The following is an excerpt from a letter sent to parents by the committee:
During the month of January, we will be hosting a “New Year, New Bed and Blanket” drive to collect new beds and blankets for the shelter animals. Please send a pet bed or blanket (new or gently used towels will also be accepted) to school with your child. We will also be accepting monetary donations to purchase pet beds and blankets for the animals.
In addition to drives and fund-raising efforts, the committee is helping the shelter publicize pets up for adoption.
The following is provided by committee member Julie McDonald:
Boosie is a 2-year-old male bulldog mix who is an all-around awesome dog! Boosie is kid friendly and loves to play. If you are looking to add a furry friend to your family, please consider giving Boosie a loving home. Boosie’s adoption fee is $100, which includes vaccinations and neuter.
The Atmore/PCI Animal Shelter is located just off Highway 31, behind the National Guard Armory at 206 Cindebran Drive in Atmore.
