Participants in this year’s production of To Kill a Mockingbird will work with a familiar face.
Officials of The Mockingbird Company announced earlier this week that Kathy McCoy, former executive director of the Monroe County Heritage Museum, will direct the play this year. She served as the play’s director for many years before accepting the position of executive director and artistic director of The Pell Center in Pell City.
Auditions for the 2019 production of To Kill a Mockingbird are scheduled for Jan. 12 in Monroeville and Jan. 13 in Brewton. The Monroeville auditions will be held at the Monroe County Public Schools System’s gymatorium at the former Monroeville Middle School location at 109 Pickens Street from 10 a.m. to noon. The Brewton auditions will be held at Brewton City Hall from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Actors will be asked to read from the script and they will not need a prepared monologue, according to officials. They also emphasized that experience is not a necessary requirement.
