Henry Raymond “Pop” Robbins

Mr. Henry Raymond “Pop” Robbins, age 81, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in Century, Fla. He was a native and life-long resident of McDavid, Fla. He was a brick mason by trade and an avid fisherman. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Stella Robbins; one son, Ricky Robbins; wife, Margaret Louise Nicholas; two brothers, James R. Robbins and Pellar Robbins and his dog, Debo.

Mr. Robbins is survived by two sons, Barry (Apryl) Nicholas and Clayton (Tammy Moe) Simmons, all of McDavid; one sister, Carolyn Robbins (Donald) Jordan of Flomaton, Ala.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Rick MaHarrey officiating.

The family received friends Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Denver “Bubbie” Blake Shuttlesworth

Mr. Denver “Bubbie” Blake Shuttlesworth, age 19, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Memphis, Tenn. He was a native and life-long resident of the Atmore, Ala. area. He was a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and Friendly Holiness Church. He was a 2017 graduate of the Victory Performing Arts Academy of Pace, Fla., member of the Poarch Creek Indians 4-H Club and the Poarch Creek Indians Summer Youth Program. He was the 2016 Joy of Life Mardi Gras King, played football and baseball at J U Blacksher School, participated in the Native American Youth Organization (NAYO), and was a member of the Skyhigh for St. Jude. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfathers, William Fretwell and Jerry Bailey; paternal grandparents, Worthy James Shuttlesworth and D.D. Darnell.

Mr. Shuttlesworth is survived by his mother and step-father, Sandy and Darrell Hollinger of Uriah, Ala.; father, Randal Shuttlesworth of Perdido, Ala.; brother, Austin Shuttlesworth of Perdido, Ala.; sister, Anna Grace “Tootie” Hollinger of Uriah; maternal grandmother, Ruth Bailey of Poarch, Ala.; paternal grandmother, Gladys Darnell of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; grandparents, Alex “Buster” and Yvonne “Pug” Hollinger of Uriah; special uncle, Randy Fretwell of Poarch, Ala.; numerous uncles, aunts, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the McCullough Christian Center with Pastor Ray Ward, Bishop Darryl North, Pastor Trevor Daughtry and Pastor Todd Bailey officiating. Burial followed at New Home Cemetery.

The family received friends Monday, September 10, 2018 from 6 p.m. until service time at 11 a.m. September 11, 2018 at the McCullough Christian Center.

Pallbearers were Austin Shuttlesworth, Randy Fretwell, Jr., Dalton Tolbert, Logan Peaden, Cody Rolin, Hunter Tuberville, Joseph Parker, and Thornton Sells.

Honorary pallbearers were Jeff Ostmeyer, Jeff Rollo, Wes Rollo, Hunter Peaden, Lane Peaden, Corey Bailey, Rusty Lassiter, Clint Lassiter, Kenneth Robinson, Garrett McMillan, Dakota Barlow, Austin Hadley, Billy Long, and the Poarch Creek Indians Tribal Council.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and Pilots for Christ at P.O. Box 707, Monroeville, AL 36461.

James M. Monroe 

Mr. James J. Monroe, age 89, of Dadeville, Ala., formerly of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Russell Medical Center, Alexander, City, Ala. He was born in Tallapoosa County, Ala. to the late Jess and Zora Monroe. He was a 1949 graduate of Dadeville High School. He served four years in the United States Air Force serving as a Military Police. He retired from the State of Alabama as a State Trooper for twenty-five years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Dadeville, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lorene Monroe; sister, Betty Sue Yancey; brother-in-law, Lewis Yancey; nephews, Steve and Edwin Yancey.

Mr. Monroe is survived by a daughter, Deborah (Scott) Howard of Dadeville, Ala.; sons, Richard (Lori) Monroe of Loxley, Ala. and Phillip (Laura) Monroe of Suwanee, Ga.; five grandchildren, Amy Monroe of Birmingham, Ala., Blake (Rachel) Monroe of Nashville, Tenn.; Meagan Monroe of Oxford, Miss., Madison Monroe of Augusta, Ga. and Mackenzie Monroe of Athens, Ga.; mother of his children, Myrna Monroe of Atmore and niece, Jenny Sue Yancey.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Langley Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Carver presiding. Burial will follow at Red Ridge Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 1 p.m. until service time at 1:30 p.m. at Langley Funeral Home, Camp Hill, Ala.

Larry Dean Milliken

Mr. Larry Dean Milliken, Sr., age 71, passed away Monday, September 10, 2018. He was born in Ohio and moved to Atmore, Ala. in his early years. He was a 1965 graduate of Escambia County High School. He was a retired instrument technician with NADEP with twenty-four years of service. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Miriam Nell Milliken.

Mr. Milliken is survived by his life-long friend and mother of his children, Lelia Ann Benner of Atmore; one son, Larry Dean (Lisa) Milliken, Jr. of Atmore; one daughter, Jennifer M. (Dennis) Keller of Havervill, Mass.; one brother, Alan L. (Libby) Milliken of Pensacola, Fla.; one sister, Rhonda (Butch) Kinney of Prattville, Ala.; two grandchildren, Hunter Dean (Hannah) Milliken and Sara Ashlyn Milliken; three great-grandchildren, Tyson D. Milliken, Levi A. Milliken and Chase L. Milliken; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and his special Pensacola Family.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Dukes officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Damon Dwight Bell

Mr. Damon Dwight Bell, age 64, of Atmore, Ala. passed away at his residence Friday September 14, 2018. He was a purchasing agent for Bay Wood Products, also worked in Tele Communications for many years. He was born in Atmore to the late Floyd and Annie Ruth Moye Bell.
He was preceded in death by His parents.
Mr. Bell is survived by his wife, Glenda Powell Bell of Atmore; three sons,
Justin (Paulette) Bell of Pensacola, Fla., Kevin (Sheila) Bell of McCullough,
Ala., Keith (Rebecca) Bell of Robertsdale, Ala.; one daughter, Amanda (Eric)
McBrayer of Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers, Dempsey Bell and Donald
Bell, both of Evergreen, Ala.; one sister, Areitha Walker of Atmore; 8.5 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. from Johnson-
Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dempsey Bell and Bro. Donald Bell officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be his sons, Justin Bell, Kevin Bell, Keith Bell, and a nephew, Derek Bell.

Annie Laura Wright

Ms. Annie Laura Wright, age 66, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at her residence. She was a native of Jackson, Miss. and has in Brewton for many years.

Ms. Wright is survived by her son, Timothy (Wanda) Wright of Mt. Vernon, Ala.; one sister, Delores Wright of Montgomery; eight grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Graveside services were held Monday, September 17, 2018 and 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Jackson with Rev. Thaddeus Douglas, officiating.

Florence Rush Yothers Bucher

Mrs. Florence Rush Yothers Bucher, age 97, of Indianapolis, Ind., passed away Friday, September 14, 2018 in Indiana. She was born to the late I. Erwin and Nora Rush Yothers.

During her 58 years of marriage, she lived in Dallastown, PA, Atmore, AL, Scottdale, PA and Bellefontaine, OH.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Musselman Bucher; nine siblings, Naomi, Ruth, Miriam, Paul, Esther, Richard (Ruth), Margaret (Howard) Leatherman, Alverna (Dan) Hunsberger and I. Erwin Yothers, Jr; a son, Dale; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Acquisto; son-in-spirit, Mark Acquisto; and grandson, Gabriel Bucher.

Mrs. Bucher is survived by Rachel Bucher Kauffman (Roger), David (Sharon Hoover) Bucher, Carol Bucher Bixler (Sam); grandchildren, Ryan (Valerie) Kauffman, Rudi (Ravonn) Kauffman, Ross (Anna) Kauffman, Ari (Eya Santana) Whiteley, Mila Whiteley, Louis (Suzy Myre) Acquisto, Stella Acquisto, Eric (Mary Laura Krabill) Bixler, Timothy Bixler, Analisa Bixler and great-grandchildren, Evan, Neil, Simon, Greta, Sophia, Nora, and Micah Kauffman and Lukas Bixler.

A memorial service is being planned for October 13, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. at Shalom Mennonite Church, 6100 East 32nd Street, Indianapolis.

A graveside service will be held at Deep Run East Mennonite Church, Perkasie, Penn. in November 2018.

Locally, the Kauffman family will be receiving guests who want to express their condolences in person on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 3 to 8 p.m. at their home.

Georgia Mae Peacock

Mrs. Georgia Mae Peacock, age 86, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018 at her home. She was a native of Monroe County, Ala. and has resided in Atmore for most of her life. She was a member of the Little Rock 1st Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Danel Elijah Lambeth and James Franklin Peacock and brother, Johnny Huggins.

Mrs. Peacock is survived by two sons, Joseph Lee (Mary) Lambeth of Brewton, Ala. and George Jasper (Deborah Stacey) Lambeth of Atmore; two daughters, Nancy Mae Lambeth (Terry) Martin and Frances Regina McMillian of Atmore; three brothers, Harold (Eloise) Peacock of Martinville, Ala., Aubrey Peacock and Millard (Jo) Peacock, all of Little Rock, Ala.; two sisters, Erbie Grace Rackhard of Chickasaw, Ala. and Ethel “Bonnie” Nabors of Atmore; nine grandchildren, Joseph Daniel Lambeth, Robin Lynn Lambeth, James Christopher Lambeth, Terri Martin, Wayne Lee Martin, Regina Lynn Martin, Hartwood McMillian, II, Shannon Lambeth Petty and DeAnna Jo Lambeth; ten great-grandchildren, Shana Marie Lambeth, Elizabeth Ashley Evans, Rian Lambeth, Logan Lambeth, Addy Lynn Lambeth, Brittany Martin, Nicholas Martin, Hartwood McMillian, III, Amber Boutwell and Sydney Bell and one great-great-grandchild, Tatum Harper Boutwell.

Dorothy Frances Cole “Dot” Hendrix

Mrs. Dorothy Frances Cole “Dot” Hendrix, age 88, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 in Atmore. She was born to the late Dr. David DuBose and Martha Schulz Cole in Monroe County, Ala. She was a longtime member of The First Baptist Church of Atmore, where she taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and Awana. She was a homemaker whose love for cooking was surpassed only by her love for family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 69 years, William Herbert “Bill” Hendrix and two sisters Elisabeth McCaskey, and Ann Byrd.
Mrs. Hendrix is survived by her son, Bert (Sandra) Hendrix of Mobile, Ala., her daughter, Sheri (Jack) Darby of Atmore and her son Robert (Melanie) Hendrix of Atmore; grandchildren,

Elisabeth (Heath) Ward, Hayley (Zac) Palm, Will Hendrix, Jana Hendrix and Deeya (Silas) Seamans; great-grandchildren, Hendrix Ward, Mary-Grace Ward, Anna Kate Palm, Lee Palm, Darby Locke, and Dillon Seamans.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. from First Baptist Church of Atmore with Dr. Larry Patterson and Bert Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
