Man, not woman, was stabbed last week

Atmore Police Chief Chuck Brooks confirmed Monday (Aug. 13) that an Atmore man — not a woman as was first reported — was a victim of a stabbing last week on Carver Avenue.

Brooks reported that the victim, whose name has not been released, was “doing fine” and that police have completed their investigation of the incident, which involved numerous people, none of whom have yet been arrested.

The police chief said investigators have turned their investigative report over to District Attorney Steve Billy, who will determine who, if anyone, might be arrested in connection with the incident.

The stabbing occurred August 7 at the intersection of Carver Avenue and Presley Street, near McNeil Square Apartments and the Mike & Ike convenience store.
