The Atmore Public Library staff started their second initiative of the summer Friday, July 13, with the STEM program.
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics. The staff decided to start with an engineering project – a marshmallow launcher. Sounded like it might be difficult, but it wasn’t.
The parts necessary to build the launcher were divided in containers and each engineer picked up their parts along with a diagram. It didn’t take this group long to assemble their launchers, then the marshmallows were distributed.
Of course, launchers require power. In this case, every person had their own power source – take a deep breath and blow.
The STEM program continues this Friday at 10 a.m.
