Willis awarded scholarship

La’Dasia Monae Willis has been awarded a $4,000 Yates Companies, Inc. Scholarship for the first two years of college. She was selected by a scholarship committee based on academics, extracurricular activities and two short essays.

“We set up the scholarship program to recognize and reward high school seniors of our employees who meet certain criteria and wish to further their education at the post-secondary level,” Committee Chairperson Carolyn Voyles said. “This allows us to be a part of preparing young people for the future.”

La’Dasia will graduate from Escambia County High School this spring and plans to major in biology at the University of South Alabama. She is the daughter of Katrina Willis who is employed with Spectrum Resorts.
