Jay resident arrested for 2017 ATV theft, weapons charge

Bauldree

A Jay Florida man, accused of stealing an all-terrain vehicle from Escambia County hunting camp in November, was arrested March 13 and is charged with the theft.

According to a press release issued by Chief Deputy Mike Lambert of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Matthew Craig Bauldree, age not provided, was taken into custody when ECSO investigators and Santa Rosa County (Fla.) deputies served an arrest warrant on him at his home.

Lambert praised the persistence of sheriff’s investigators who tracked down the stolen ATV despite an almost complete lack of identifying information.

“Despite not having a VIN number or serial number, ECSO investigators located it in Santa Rosa County, Fla.,” the chief deputy said. “After further investigation they were able to obtain a warrant for him.”

When the lawmen served the warrant, they found a sawed-off shotgun in Bauldree’s home.

He is currently being held by Santa Rosa County authorities on the firearms charge, awaiting extradition to Alabama to face the theft and burglary charges.
