Mothershed arrested on SORNA violation

Mothershed

Jamey Lavon Mothershed, 38, a registered sex offender, was arrested November 29 by Escambia County Sheriff’s Office personnel after it was discovered that he had violated Alabama’s residency requirements for such offenders.

According to sheriff’s reports, Mothershed was convicted in Florida in 2001 of lewd and lascivious battery on a victim older than 12 but younger than 16.

The suspect had registered as a sex offender in Escambia County and was supposed to be living at an address on Dixie School House Road. But deputies on routine compliance check discovered that Mothershed was not living at the approved location and residence.

As the investigation continued, it was determined by Investigator Bruce Shue that Mothershed had moved to Covington County without proper notification and registration. A warrant was obtained for his arrest on a charge of violating the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).

Mothershed remained in the Escambia County Detention Center, under a $25,000 bond, Tuesday afternoon (Dec, 12).
