Bill “Billy Joe Wild Bill” Hadley
Mr. Bill Billy Joe Wild Bill Hadley, age 58, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 in Perdido, Ala. He was a native and life-long resident of Perdido, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Obbie and Louise Hadley and a son, Christopher Obie Hadley.

Mr. Hadley is survived by one daughter, Crystal Lester of Excel, Ala.; two brothers, Danny Hadley and Randy Hadley, both of Perdido; two sisters, Evon Hasting of Bay Minette, Ala. and Elaine Hadley Thomas of Perdido, Ala. and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 10, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sis. Helen Stewart officiating. Burial followed at Bryars-McGill Cemetery.

The family received friends Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Aaron Hadley, Danny Hadley Jr., Mason Hadley, Steven Hadley, Wade Durant and Brandon Durant.

Honorary pallbearers were Danny Hadley, Sr. and David Mosley.

William Jason Chandler
Mr. William Jason Chandler, age 40, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 in Andalusia, Ala. He was a native of Excel, Ala. former resident of Monroeville, Ala., and has resided in Andalusia for the past year and a half. He was artistic, never met a stranger, loved by everyone and loved life.

Mr. Chandler is survived by his father, Doug Chandler of Monroeville, Ala.; mother, Edna Wiggins of Brewton, Ala.; two brothers, J.P. (Jessica) Chandler of Excel and Nicky (Deanna) Bass of Pace, Fla.; five sisters, Gina (Donnie) Cofield and Wendy (Michael) Boutwell, all of Flomaton, Jennifer Hope (Andy) Watson of Monroeville, AL, Kelly Boyette of Brewton and Brenda Chandler of Excel and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.

Richard Adam White
Mr. Richard Adam White, age 38, of Perdido, Ala., passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in Baldwin County, Ala. He was employed on construction as a painter. He was born in Pensacola, Fla. to Richard D. and Virginia Inez Neal White.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Inez Neal.

Mr. White is survived by his father, Richard D. White of Perdido; two daughters, Kally White of Cantonment, Fla. and Daelyn Lee Fine of Perdido; one brother, Daniel Wayne (April) White of Bratt, Fla.; nieces, Savannah and Addison; nephew, Brayson, and a host of family and friends

Graveside Services were held Friday March 10, 2017 at 10 a.m. in Presley Cemetery, Nokomis, Ala. with Bro. Don Davis officiating. Interment followed in Presley Cemetery.

The family received friends Friday, March 10, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Mattie Ruth Bailey
Mrs. Mattie Ruth Bailey, age 89, of Canoe, Ala., passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at her residence. She was a homemaker. She was born in Brewton, Ala. to the late Charlie and Sallie Tarleton Booth. She was a member of Moyeville Baptist Church and attended First Baptist Church of Canoe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raleigh Bailey; a son, Charles Bailey; granddaughter, Megan Bailey; great-granddaughter, Ashley Abbott and her brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Bailey is survived by three sons, Gary (Darlene) Bailey and Keith (Laura) Bailey, all  of Canoe, Ala., Douglas ( Beverly) Bailey of Lenoir City, Tenn.; six daughters, Regina Gohagan of Robinsonville, Ala., Miriam (Ray) McBride and Sharon Martin, all of Bratt, Fla., Annette (Tommy) Young and Kim (Randy) Martin, all of Canoe, Janet (Tom) Redden of Concord, N.C.; twenty grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Friday, March 10, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. in Robinsonville Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment followed in Robinsonville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Janice Coley Dyal
Mrs. Janice Coley Dyal, age 76, a native of Monroe County, Ala. and a resident of Robertsdale, Ala., passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017. She was retired from Gulf Telephone Company. She was a member of Robertsdale United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading and eating Snickers candy bars.

Mrs. Dyal is survived by her husband, Carl “Bo” Dyal, Sr. of Robertsdale, AL; daughter, Mary (Bob) Sanders of Robertsdale; son, Carl Dyal, Jr. of Loxley, Ala.; six grandchildren, Meghin Dyal, Marlee Dyal, Mariah Dyal, Maria Ford, Curry Sanders, Robert Sanders and one great- grandchild, Lilliana.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 20, 2017 at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Mack Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Baldwin Memorial Cemetery, Robertsdale.

The family received friends Friday, January 20, 2017 one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Alvis Respress
Mr. Alvis Respress, age 92, of Atmore, Ala., passed away, Thursday, March 9, 2017 in Atmore. He was born to the late Daniel Alvin and Hattie Brake Respress in Darlington, Fla. He was a Staff Sgt. in the U.S. Army during WWII.

After WWII he was employed at St.Regis Paper Company, was an Engineer for L & N Railroad and was also a farmer. He was of Baptist Faith and a member of Huxford Lodge and Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert, Amon, Elzie, Edmon and Fred Respress; sisters, Ruthie Wise, Orie Eason and Myrtle Velzie.
Mr Respress is survived by his wife, Bernice Respress; one son, Benny Alvin (Bobbie) Respress all of Atmore; grandchildren, Leslie (Ray) Sellers and Tyler (Ashley) Respress; great-grandchildren, Jackson Sellers and Myles Sellers.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dale Norris officiating. Interment followed in Serenity Gardens.

Active pallbearers were Matt Mason, Morgan Mason, John Hassebrock, Heath Fillmore, Randall Musgrove and Tommy Strawbridge.

Honorary pallbearers were Luther West, Hilbert Hall, Alfred Wolfe, James Weber, Tony James, Wayne Harrison, Romeo Coleman and Bart Rehm.

The family received friends Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 1:30 p.m. until service time at 2:30 p.m.at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Anna Harrison Whitehurst
Anna Harrison Whitehurst, 96, passed away March 10, 2017 in Bay Minette, AL. She was a quiet sweet person with a gentle spirit. Mrs. Whitehurst loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Every day she read her Bible and she loved her church. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Atmore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. Whitehurst; son, Neville Whitehurst, and son-in-law, Roy Godwin. She is survived by two daughters, Thelma (Donald) Robinson and Teresa Godwin; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, other relatives, and many friends.

The family received friends at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home on Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The funeral was conducted from the Chapel of Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 10:00 am. Dr. Debora Bishop and Dr. Chip Starnes officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Matt Robinson, Jason Godwin, Terry Strength, Casey Fordyce, Clint Smith, and Keith Castleberry. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Sunday School Class of the First United Methodist Church.

Randy Lee McGhee
Mr. Randy Lee McGhee, age 45, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in Gulf Shores, Ala. He was a native and former resident of Mobile, Ala. and has resided in Poarch, Ala. for the past three years. He was of the Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Lee McGhee.

Mr. McGhee is survived by his mother, Juanita C. McGhee of Gulf Shores; special friend and mother of his children, Crissy Burt of Mobile; two sons, Dylan McGhee and Tyson McGhee, both of Mobile; one daughter, Alexis McGhee of Mobile; two brothers, Michael McGhee of Poarch and Joey Ivy of Mobile; one sister, Alesia Adams of Gulf Shores and one grandchild, Addison McGhee.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 13, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Burial followed at the Judson Creek Indian Cemetery.

Joseph Hugh Whittington
Mr. Joseph Hugh Whittington, age 84, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 in Jay, Fla. He was a native of Paragould, Ark., former resident of Pensacola, Fla. and has resided in Byrneville, Fla. since 1993. He was a member of the VFW, NRA and as a Mason. He was retired from the US Navy Reserve and Naval Air Station with forty-five years of service.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha Lee Whittington; sister, Virginia Nell Daniel and brother, Dr. John Whittington.

Mr. Whittington is survived by his wife, Alice Bush Whittington of Byrneville and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 10 a.m.at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Stickle officiating. Burial will follow at Byrneville Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be the Military body bearers.

Thelma Louise Drew
Mrs. Thelma Louise Drew, age 86, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at her residence. She was a homemaker. She was born in Atmore to the late Earney Aquilla and Lucy McElhaney Smith. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord, enjoying her flowers and her birds. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Eugene Drew, Sr.; grandson, Frankie Drew; eight brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Drew is survived by wo sons, Ralph E. (Kathryn) Drew, Jr. and Michael Drew; three daughters, Deborah Drew, Paula (Brent) Freeman and Tracy (David) Ziglar, all of Atmore; two sisters, Lillian Davis of Davisville, Fla. and Betty Byrne of Columbus, Ga.; grandchildren Tammy Drew, Kim (Darby) Peavy, Bradley Freeman, Casey (fiancé, Narisa) Freeman, Sarah Ziglar and Hannah Ziglar; two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Anna Kathryn Peavy.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 2 p.m. from Grace Fellowship Church with Rev C.L. Langford and Bro Doug Coburn officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Bradley Freeman, Casey Freeman, Darby Peavy, Earl Weaver, James Kildow and Barry Fullerton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jarrod Kyser, Gary Hare and Greg Norwood.

Diana Kemp-Howard
Pastor Diana Kemp-Howard, age 51, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017 at her residence. She was a native of New York, She was a graduate of Brentwood Sonderling High School in New York. She was founding Pastor of Walk by Faith, Not by Sight Holiness Church in Atmore. She received her AA in Childcare from Faulkner State Community College.

She was a member of Greater Glory New Testament Church of Deliverance in Flomaton serving as head teacher at the church Daycare Center and Director at All of God’s Children Child Development Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orner Lee, Sr. and Betty Kemp and her grandparents, Pearlie and Lucille Ezell.

Pastor Kemp-Howard is survived by five daughters, Randi Moore (Willie Whatley), Jovoni Kemp, Betty Kemp, Dawn (Scotty) McNeal, Tyesha (Ray Charles) Wiggins, all of Atmore; three sons, Charles (Dominique) Jones, Michael Gamble, and Darnell Gamble, all of Atmore; two sisters, Cecillia Kemp of Atmore and Patrice Lynell Bethea of Killeen, Texas; five brothers, Orner Lee Kemp, Jr. of Peekskill, N.Y., David Earl (Lisa) Kemp and Jeffery Luther Kemp all of Atlanta, Ga., Ivan Carl (Sandra) Kemp of Long Island, N.Y. and Glenn Thomas Kemp of Detroit, Mich.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Celebration of Life services will be held Friday, March 17, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Greater Glory New Testament Church of Deliverance – Flomaton with Apostle Nancy Cottrell, Pastor, officiating. Public viewing will be held Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 3 – 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral Home.

Norman Leslie “Hollywood” Hubert
Mr. Norman Leslie “Hollywood” Hubert, age 65, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at West Florida Hospital, Pensacola, Fla. He was a native and longtime resident of Atmore, Ala. He was a 1968 graduate of Escambia County Training School. He attended Reid State Tech College where he earned an AA degree in Brick Masonry.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an Alabama Crimson Tide and Dallas Cowboy fan. He was a member of Mt. Gillead Baptist Church, Freemanville, Ala. and also a 32nd degree Mason. He was a self-employed brick mason.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Hubert.

Mr. Hubert is survived by his wife of twenty-three years, Wanda Hubert of Atmore; two daughters, Tamecia (Kelvin, Sr.) McCullam-Smith of Valley Grande, Ala. and Amber Hubert of Daytona Beach, Fla.; his parents, Henry, Sr. and Lula Mae Hubert of Atmore; three sisters, Karen (Layton, Sr.) Hubert-Frye of Tallahassee, Fla., Marlene Poindexter, and Darlene Nolan both of Atmore; eight brothers, Leonard (Gail) Hubert of Columbus, Ohio, Henry Hubert, Jr. of Madison, Ala., Robert Hill of Montgomery, Ala., Bob (Charlotte) Hubert of Chattanooga, Tenn., Marvin (Angela) Hubert of Detroit, Mich., Anthony Hubert of Kennesaw, Ga., Alfonzia Hubert and Volley Reynolds, Jr., both of Atmore; one grandson, Kelvin Smith, Jr. of Valley Grande and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Gillead Baptist Church – Atmore (Freemanville Community) with Rev. Alfonzia Williams, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Public viewing will be held Friday, March 16, 2017 from 2 – 8 p.m. at the funeral Home.
