Homer “BUD” Mitchell
Mr. Homer “BUD” Mitchell, age 101, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Willow Trace Nursing and Rehab Center in Butler, Ala. He was born in Castleberry, Ala., (Conecuh County) to the late Ben and Rosie Mitchell. He had been a resident of Atmore, Ala., Freemanville Community, for over seventy years. He was a farmer and member of Antioch Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by all his siblings; sisters, Willie M. Dread and Willianise Craft; brothers, James C., Sr., Melvin, Loyde, Herman, Elvin, and Andrew “Skeeter” Mitchell along with some nieces and nephews.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his devoted nephew/caregiver, Benjamin (Doreen) Dread of Jackson, Ala. and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Longmire-Jones Memorial Chapel of Turner Funeral Chapel – 83 Westbrook Lane, Atmore with Min. Timothy Craft, officiating. Interment will be in Stallworth Cemetery.

Turner Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

Carrie Lucille Hawkins
Ms. Carrie Lucille Hawkins, age 76, passed away Wednesday, February 22 2017 at Westgate Village Nursing Home. She was born in Mobile, Ala. to Pollie Mae and Addis Hawkins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Shirley Adams and brother, Johnny Bates.

Ms. Hawkins is survived by her three brothers, Ernest (Gardeen) Bates, Marvin Johnson and Charlie (Katrina) Hawkins; two sisters, Bobbie (Johnnie) Booker and Pauline (Roderick) McLemore; sisters-in-law, Patricia Bates and Evelyn Jones Bullard; devoted friend, s. Helen Wiggins; Goddaughter, Pat Carter; three special nieces, Lisa Johnson, Kanisha Booker and Crystal Jackson and a host of nieces, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 3, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Second Saint Siloam Baptist Church, Brewton, Ala. with Pastor Barrett Coachman officiating.

Interment followed in Pollard Cemetery.

Pallbearers and flower bearers were friends and family.

Ivey Montgomery
Mr. Ivey Montgomery, age 77, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017. He was born in Conecuh County, Ala. to the late Gude and Marie Montgomery. He was a member of Belleville Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon; president and member of the Belleville Missionary Baptist Church Choir. He attended school at Lime Hill and Conecuh County Training School. He was employed with Wild Brother’s and Swift Lumber Company for more than forty-nine years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred North.

Mr. Montgomery is survived by three daughters, Phyllis (Jesse) Redmon of Brewton, Ala., Carolyn (Willie J.) Hunter of Bloomington, Ill.; two sons, Douglas (Patricia) Montgomery and Albert Bonney of Belleville, Ala.; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one sister, Cora Lee Montgomery Jones of Ashville, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Cherrie Bell Montgomery of Atmore, Ala; devoted sons-in-law, Willie J. Hunter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends and Godchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Belleville Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Thompson, officiating. Interment will follow at Belleville Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were his grandsons and cousins.

Flower bearers were his granddaughters and cousins.
