3 DAR Good Citizens recognized

The Fort Mims Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution wishes to announce and congratulate the DAR Good Citizens at the three area high schools. The students were elected from each senior class based on qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism to an outstanding degree.

The area DAR Good Citizens for 2016-17 are Bailey Colleen Lancaster, Escambia Academy; Ziah Hassani Young, Escambia County High School; Karrie Kaylee Gibson, Flomaton High School.

The DAR Good Citizens were eligible to participate in the DAR National Scholarship Contest which included background information in school and community and an essay. All three Good Citizens participated in the scholarship competition. The Chapter winner’s entry went to District to compete with entries from Baldwin and Mobile counties. The District winner would go to State, and the State winner would go to National.

The Fort Mims Chapter NSDAR winner is Bailey Lancaster. The District winner was from a Mobile school.

Each recipient of the DAR Good Citizen Award is to be commended for her excellence in school and community activities. Recognition of each winner will be given at Awards Day or Senior Recognition Day at the end of the school year.
